Notable Achievements - Industry Awards
April 30, 2008
The Ontario Energy Board is honoured to have received three industry awards recently for its important contributions.
Howard Wetston, Chair and Chief Executive Officer, was awarded the National Award for Excellence in Public Law from the Canadian Energy Law Forum.
Mr. Wetston was recognized for his leadership at the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) and also for his very distinguished career in public service outside the energy sector.
He has made notable contributions, not only in the area of energy regulation, but also in the areas of competition, consumer protection, securities, financial markets regulation and as a Judge of the Federal Court of Canada.
In his time at the Board, he has led the organization toward improved regulation with greater efficiency and transparency in the energy sector.
As well, the Ontario Energy Board has been honoured with two additional awards from the Canadian Association of Members of Public Utility Tribunals (CAMPUT).
The first CAMPUT award, for innovation, recognized the Board for its Stakeholder Perception Index survey, which provides insights from our stakeholders on top of mind energy issues, measures the OEB’s performance, informs business planning and identifies areas for improvement.
The annual survey is an initiative of the Board’s Communications and Consumer Relations team.
The second CAMPUT award went to Vice-Chair Gordon Kaiser, who shared the honour for leadership with Bob Heggie, Chief Executive Officer of the Alberta Utilities Commission.
Both individuals were recognized for their work in support of the National Energy Efficiency Forum, a national regulatory dialogue on Demand Side Management and energy efficiency. Through the forum, regulators, industry and customer representatives have explored a number of key issues affecting conservation initiatives in Canada and beyond.
The Board and its staff congratulate all reward recipients.
