Your Natural Gas Bill
Each month your natural gas bill contains a number of charges including:
- Customer Charge: a fixed charge approved by the OEB for the administrative services of your natural gas account such as meter reading, customer services, equipment maintenance and emergency response.
- Gas Delivery Charge: includes the costs for transportation of natural gas to Ontario, storage, distribution from your local gas utility to you, and a regulated rate of return, or profit, on the investment your utility has made in the gas distribution system. Changes in the cost of natural gas may impact your gas delivery charge because operating pipeline systems use natural gas.
- While there are separate rates approved by the OEB for transportation, distribution and storage, your bill may show them as one item or have separate lines for each item.
- Gas Supply Charge: the cost of the natural gas supplied to you
More information
The OEB does not have access to consumers’ accounts. For detailed information about your specific natural gas bill, you should contact your energy provider directly or visit their Web site.
