Low Volume Electricity and Natural Gas Consumer Issues:
Statistics Relating to Electricity Retailers and Natural Gas Marketers
The Ontario Energy Board (OEB) provides an overview chart of all issues received by the OEB’s Consumer Relations Centre from low volume consumers regarding electricity retailers and natural gas marketers. This information is intended to help inform consumers and is updated on a quarterly basis.
Below you will find links to overview charts indicating the total number of issues received by the OEB’s Consumer Relations Centre from low volume consumers in relation to electricity retailers and natural gas marketers. The chart has been broken down by category of issue for each marketer and retailer.
The issues are classified in the following categories:
- Agent Conduct: door-to-door sales, telemarketing
- Contract Management: enrollments, renewals, contract reaffirmation, de-enrollments (contract cancellation)
- Customer Service: call centre, administration, general service
Except as indicated in the chart; the statistics are presented for each retailer or marketer based on the number of issues raised per 1000 new enrollments and renewals. Information on enrollments and renewals used for this purpose was provided by the retailers and marketers and has not been subject to independent review or audit by the OEB.
Not all licensed electricity retailers and natural gas marketers are active in the marketplace. Consumers have raised issues about some of the retailers and marketers but not necessarily all of them. The statistical data presented only reflects retailers and marketers in relation to whom a consumer issue was received by the Board's Consumer Relations Centre for that quarter.
