Farm Stray Voltage (EB-2007-0709)
On June 22, 2007, the Board received a Directive from the Minister of Energy that requires the Board to implement such measures as the Board considers necessary to address the issue of stray voltage as it affects the farm sector.
In response to the Minister’s Directive, the Board conducted a consultation process to solicit input from interested parties regarding stray voltage, its potential impact on the farm sector and the identification of measures that could be implemented to mitigate this impact.

The proposed amendments to the Distribution System Code consist of a Farm Stray Voltage Distributor Investigation Procedure. As explained in the Notice, comments on the proposed amendments must be filed by April 30, 2009. |

Board staff has prepared a Discussion Paper entitled Farm Stray Voltage: Issues and Regulatory Options aimed at eliciting written comments from all interested parties. As explained in the Cover Letter, all interested parties are invited to send written comments to the Board Secretary by July 11, 2008. Also posted are three reports prepared by expert consultants at the request of Board staff.
