Regulatory Treatment of Electricity Sub-metering (EB 2005-0252)
The Board will develop and implement an appropriate regulatory framework for the activity of smart sub-metering. Stakeholders to EB-2005-0252 will be notified when the process continues.
The Energy Conservation Responsibility Act, 2006, added Sections 53.16 and 53.17 to the Electricity Act, 1998. Section 57(i) of the Ontario Energy Board Act, 1998, requires a licence for any person “engaged in activity prescribed by the regulation that relate to electricity”.
