Transition of Regulatory Accounting to IFRS – Consultation (EB-2008-0104)
To assist in the transition to International Financial Reporting Standards (“IFRS”), the Board has created a consultation regarding the Transition of Regulatory Accounting to IFRS (the “IFRS Consultation”). The Board has extended an invitation to participate in the IFRS Consultation to all licensed electricity transmitters and distributors, Ontario Power Generation, and all rate-regulated natural gas distributors.
Generally Accepted Accounting Principles in Canada will be transitioned to IFRS effective January 1, 2011.
The IFRS Consultation will provide an opportunity for Board staff to work with interested industry participants on an informal basis with a view to identifying issues associated with this transition as well as suggestions for how those issues might be addressed. This will provide input to Board staff’s work to develop a transition plan for the Board’s regulatory accounting instruments and processes.

The Board has announced that all interested parties are invited to participate in the IFRS Consultation. Meetings have now been scheduled in each of August, September, and October. Further details about the IFRS Consultation are provided in the letter below. Those interested in participating in the IFRS Consultation meetings should indicate their interest to Board Secretary by August 5, 2008. |
