Regulatory Policy & Compliance
Regulatory Policy & Compliance (RPC) is responsible for monitoring developments in Ontario’s natural gas and electricity sector and for assisting the Board in the development of regulatory policies. RPC carries out its responsibilities through five business units: Retail Markets & Compliance Management , Network & Smart Grid, Infrastructure & Renewables, Rates & Pricing and Conservation & Policy Evaluation.

Retail Markets & Compliance Management
The Retail Markets & Compliance Management unit is responsible for developing retail compliance policy, the review of escalated consumer complaints and the initial evaluations of issues received through Market.Operations@oeb.gov.on.ca.

Networks & Smart Grid
The Networks & Smart Grid unit is responsible for the coordination of distribution network policy, including regulatory policy related to smart grid asset investment, the smart meter intitiative, electricity time-of-use pricing and the monitoring of distribution reliability standards.

Infrastructure & Renewables
The Infrastructure and Renewables unit is responsible for coordination of transmission network policy, including the connection of renewable generation and the monitoring of transmission reliability standards. The group is also responsible for the regulatory policy with respect to distributed generation connections.

The Rates & Pricing unit is responsible for policy development related to distribution rates, storage regulation, transmission rate design, and gas commodity pricing.
