Apply for a Licence
Electricity Distribution Licence
Section 57(a) of the Ontario Energy Board Act, 1998 provides that no person is permitted to own or operate a distribution system without a licence.
If you are interested in applying for an electricity distribution licence, refer to the link below and download an application form. A sample licence is available for viewing by clicking the link below. Complete and mail two copies of the application form to the Board, along with any required attachments and a cheque or money order in Canadian funds made payable to the ONTARIO ENERGY BOARD.
The application fee for an electricity distribution licence is $800. The annual registration fee for an electricity distributor is $800.
Licensees must comply with the Board's Distribution System Code, Affiliate Relationships Code for Electricity Distributors and Transmitters, Retail Settlement Code, Standard Supply Service Code, and all other conditions set out in their licence.
