Smart Sub-Metering Licence
Section 57(i) of the Ontario Energy Board Act, 1998, Ontario Regulation 443/07—Licensing Sub-Metering Activities (made under the Ontario Energy Board Act, 1998), and Ontario Regulation 442/07—Installation of Smart Meters and Smart Sub-Metering Systems in Condominiums (made under the Electricity Act, 1998), state that no person can provide the commercial offering or commercial provision of smart sub-metering systems and any associated services to condominiums without a licence.

Complete and mail two copies of the application form to the Board, along with any required attachments and a cheque or money order in Canadian funds made payable to the ONTARIO ENERGY BOARD.
The application fee for a smart sub-metering licence is $800. The annual registration fee for an electricity smart sub-meterer is $800.
Licensees must comply with the Board's Smart Sub-Metering Code and all other conditions set out in their licence.
